AC in an international context

The challenge

Our customer, a leading international pharmaceutical corporation, wanted to identify its most promising talents early on, specifically promote these people and keep them with the company over the long term. The special challenge involved establishing a uniform "talent standard" within the complex global organization that still took country-specific requirements into account. At the same time, the solution needed to give junior employees around the world the chance to choose the best path towards personal success from a number of career options.

Our solution

In order to accommodate the complex needs of everyone involved in the process, we developed an assessment center to provide orientation. This universally applicable tool could also be adapted as needed for each situation. The elements of the process are embedded in an international setting to accurately reflect the dynamic reality within the corporation. The tool was gradually transferred to various regions in close cooperation with the local contacts. We conduct the assessment centers on site in English, or work with other service providers to provide them in the corresponding local language as needed.

Results

  • Large numbers of participants, continuously increased demand from a wide range of regions
  • A sponsor system was successfully established (follow-up meetings involving an observer from the AC)
  • According to the feedback, both the participants and observers learned from this process (through the targeted sharing of observed leadership behavior among other aspects)
  • The tool was considered extremely fair, accurate and realistic

Outlook

The universal and dynamic structure of the orientation center means that it can be used in a wide range of different regions. At the same time, it is possible to adapt it to meet any new processes and strategic HR parameters without difficulty. In essence, the tool unifies the two characteristics of a successful company – a stable foundation with the ability to transform itself as needed.
