AC in small and medium-sized companies
The challenge
Our customer, a medium-sized service provider in the financial technology sector, retendered all of its management positions as part of a company-wide restructuring initiative. The aim was to staff these positions on the basis of a valid, fair process in order to lay the foundation for a new management culture. Up to this point, our customer had no experience in the area of potential analysis.
Our solution
In order to illustrate the spectrum of management duties as realistically as possible, we put the applicants in a fictitious setting of organizational change. To ensure an efficient, pragmatic approach, the identical basic modules were used for all levels of management (interview, situational exercises, test procedures); the differences in requirements were partly incorporated through variations in content. In addition, the position-specific target profiles of the assessed competencies – developed in workshops with HR and top management – were used to determine the results. In the process, we paid special attention to the transparency of internal company communication as well as the qualitative confirmation of results in the form of extensive feedback.
Results
- Created individual competence profiles and results reports for all 107 applicants with a clear statement of their suitability for the corresponding position as well as an assessment of their future potential
- Efficient decision making for the staffing issues to be clarified (in the scope of one-day ACs of eight participants each)
- The customer was very satisfied with the process and the results of the potential analysis
Outlook
The potential analysis was the starting point for measures to develop the identified management potential: With one-on-one coaching, training and team building exercises, we continue to support our customer on its path to a successful future.
