[:de]Virtual General Meeting of the GWPs[:]

[:de][:de]Business psychologists from across Germany gathered for the virtual general meeting of the Society for Applied Business Psychology (GWPs) on October 15, 2021. Under the motto "digital.together.grow.", KI.M Managing Director and current GWPs President Prof. Dr. Christian Dries invited participants to the interactive program.

In the morning, members were able to exchange ideas about current challenges, trending topics, and quality improvements in teaching and practice in informal forum discussions. Hot topics in the Teaching Forum included "competency-based assessment," "hybrid teaching," and "tips and tricks for teaching business psychology." In the Practice Forum, members addressed topics such as "working in the virtual world," "quality of personality tests," and the "role of employee surveys."

After the lunch break, countless avatars explored the virtual GWPs spaces in the Gathertown video conferencing tool. In this playful setting, there was plenty of time for informal discussions as well as expert input: Interactive workspaces and information booths with poster presentations encouraged participation and questions.

In the afternoon, Prof. Dr. Markus Bühner, President of the German Psychological Society (DGPs), delivered welcoming remarks, providing impetus for the quality of teaching and the dialogue between the two societies. Prof. Dr. Klaus Melchers (University of Ulm) rounded off the supporting program with his highly topical keynote speech, "Everything online?! – What difference does it make whether an interview is conducted in person or via video?"

In accordance with the statutes, the day concluded with the annual general meeting. Looking back on the 2020 term, Christian Dries revealed how the GWPs grew together digitally due to the coronavirus pandemic. Regional group meetings as video meetings, paperless administration, and even the first hybrid internship at the GWPs – these were among the topics the Executive Board has addressed in recent months. But the greatest anticipation was generated by the outlook for the next term: the 25th in-person conference at the RFH is just around the corner. Because one thing we can say for sure: live and in color is still the best way to exchange ideas!
