[:de]Susanne Dierdorf already impressed us during her internship – we are delighted that Susi found her way to KIM after successfully completing her internship and has been supporting our team as a consultant since September.
Tell us more about yourself – Who are you?
My name is Susanne Dierdorf, but I don't hear the name Susanne very often, as many people call me Susi. After graduating from high school, I moved away from home, which is why I did my bachelor's degree in psychology in Aachen. Although the years there were very enjoyable and I learned to love the city, I returned to Düsseldorf for my master's. Perhaps one of my special features: I'm a proud Düsseldorfer and I really enjoy working in Cologne! During my internship, I realized that KI.M was the right employer for me. Since September of this year, I've been supporting KI.M as a consultant.
Don’t be shy – how did you convince us in the interview?
I certainly impressed with my high level of conscientiousness and team spirit. I prefer to give 120% and always like to be prepared for all eventualities. I also enjoy thinking for others, which fits well with my strong team spirit. My fellow human beings play a very large and important role in my (working) life – and in my view, this fits perfectly with KI.M and its people- and value-oriented philosophy.
Mind, heart or courage – which component of KI.M consulting appeals to you most and why?
Even before I applied for an internship at KI.M. – while I was still a student – I asked myself this question. Then as now, I identified most with the mind and the heart. Both components describe how I approach different situations, but they also overlap in many areas. My mind dominates when it comes to achieving goals, e.g., at university or in a work context. My heart is my focus when it comes to dealing with other people and customers. I found the intersection of the two components in my work at KI.M: Here, my mind and heart help me find the best solutions with a lot of commitment.
Off to the future – What technical gimmick would you invent to make your life easier at work or at home?
Ideally, I would need a device that records all the important information I would otherwise have to write down by hand. Then I could maintain constant eye contact with colleagues, clients, or participants, since I wouldn't have to look at my laptop or my paper. But that wouldn't be all: At the same time, the device could also utilize the information to the extent that it recognizes appointments and to-dos and automatically transfers them to my calendar.
Whether it’s a travel destination, an activity or something else – what’s at the top of your bucket list?
Ever since I spent time in Chile after completing my bachelor's degree, I've been drawn back to South America - currently most of all to Peru. My plan is to explore Peru and hike the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu over 5 days. It's certainly not going to be easy, which is why I'll be preparing for it at home. My agenda already includes various hikes and endurance training sessions to ensure I'm optimally prepared. I'm motivated by the view that awaits me at the top of Machu Picchu. While I'm in Peru, another thing on my to-do list is to travel to Bolivia for a few days to explore the Bolivian salt flats. The best time to go would actually be during the rainy season, as the rain practically turns the salt flats into a mirror. But as the saying goes, there's no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing.
Welcome to KI.M, Susanne![:]
