[:de]When the best speakers in leadership come to Cologne, all eyes are on our cathedral city. No wonder – at such an event, essential questions are posed to important thought leaders and leaders of our time.
How can one person change the world and what can unite people? We received some answers to these questions at the Leadership Summit last Thursday, April 4, 2019, in the LANXESS arena in Cologne.
Nearly 14,000 people gathered that evening to experience renowned guests such as John Strelecky ("The Cafe on the Edge of the World"), Boris Grundl, and Cristián Gálvez on the big stage. KI.M didn't want to miss out, so Charlotta, Christian, and Nils took the opportunity to listen to these speakers live and critically analyze their possible "mechanisms of action."
The highlight of the evening, however, was undoubtedly the approximately one-hour appearance by former US President Barack Obama. Although he is no longer the President of the United States, he still impresses crowds like no other. With a likeable mix of lighthearted remarks, personal anecdotes, and serious objections, he always achieves his goal: to captivate the world with his messages – and to make them think differently. He not only addressed his words indirectly to Chancellor Merkel and Greta Thunberg, but also called on the younger generation to take action on climate and environmental protection.
Once again, the "Obama Principle" became clear, which essentially revolves around listening, acting with foresight, and the unconditional integrity of key decision-makers and officials. Because only those who listen, check all the facts, and make decisions based on moral principles can positively influence the world.
So, attending the Leadership Summit was definitely worth it – and gave us another important insight into the future developments of world management.[:]
