The Power of Improvisation: A Journey into the World of Transformation

In a world characterized by constant change and dynamism, improvisation has often unconsciously become a method. The cry "We have to improvise now!" has become nothing unusual in many companies, especially since the pandemic. But how can we sustainably utilize this ability to improvise—that is, the ability to act spontaneously and respond creatively to unexpected challenges?

Last month, transformation expert Dr. Kim Louisa Dillenberger was at our congredi coeln as a guest speaker, who introduced us and some representatives from practice to the topic of “Transformation in dynamic times – using improvisation as an opportunity” based on her research and practical experience.

The congredi coeln is an innovative format that combines science and practice, opening up entirely new perspectives. It enables participants to translate scientific findings into practice and thus drive innovation and change.

What exactly did we do on this workshop day? Here are some insights:

Exchange of knowledge on the topic of dynamics: In today's business world, we must move away from old, purely crisis-management approaches and instead develop a new dynamic focused on shaping a new working reality with a long-term horizon. We've been exploring together how we can achieve this mindshift.

Keynote speech on improvisation: Improvisation can play a role not only on stage, but also in a corporate context. Dr. Kim Dillenberger introduced techniques for using improvisation in a targeted and strategic manner within a company to respond flexibly to changes and challenges.

Transfer Real Case Discussion: To illustrate the importance of improvisation in a corporate context, we analyzed a real-life situation. We also discussed what lessons we can draw from this event for leadership, collaboration, and training in companies.

We would like to express our sincere thanks to the participants. They gave us in-depth insights into their working world and approached us with their open minds, which led to exciting discussions and new insights. The feedback (e.g., "That opened my eyes") also underlines a successful workshop day.

We are already looking forward to the next congredi coeln in 2024.
