Interview with our new colleague Marvin

Even during his internship, Marvin Schweika was able to actively support us and demonstrate his skills. We were also able to convince him of our potential as an employer and are therefore delighted to welcome him as a consultant at KI.M since January...

Tell us more about yourself – Who are you?

My name is Marvin Schweika, and I've been working as a consultant at KI.M since January 1, 2024. Born and raised in beautiful Bielefeld, I'm now looking forward to getting to know the warm-hearted nature of the Rhinelanders. During my psychology studies with a focus on work and organizational psychology, I also developed a passion for neuroscience. I've always wanted to visualize psychological processes, and as part of my master's thesis, I had the opportunity to measure brain activity using a brain-computer interface. I gained practical experience through sports psychology coaching for golfers and working in change management at a Germany-wide management consultancy. Most recently, during my internship at KI.M, I quickly realized: KI.M and I – we're a perfect fit! I'm looking forward to the exciting challenges and a great time!

Don’t be shy – how did you convince us in the interview?

I think it was my combination of motivation, commitment, and pragmatism. I can adapt quickly and flexibly to new situations and find innovative and practical solutions. I realized early on that these qualities, along with the scientific focus, fit perfectly with the culture at KI.M. That's why I felt at home from the very first second.

Mind, heart or courage – which component of KI.M consulting appeals to you most and why?

Courage. The modern working world is characterized by uncertainty and constant change. Concepts like VUCA and BANI require courage to be applied sustainably. Courage means thinking outside the box, exploring new paths, and finding creative solutions, even in complex and uncertain situations. Being courageous also means taking responsibility, taking risks, and actively driving change. Of course, mind and heart are also essential: mind to constantly question things and make intelligent decisions, and heart to pay attention to others and act empathetically. The combination of these three building blocks makes it possible to truly move people and organizations forward.

Off to the future – What technical gimmick would you invent to make your life easier at work or at home?

During my studies, I was so fascinated by neuroscience that I've been stuck with one idea ever since: I would invent a "brain state implant" – a state-of-the-art brain implant that would continuously measure my brain activity and neurotransmitter levels. This implant would suggest to me in real time, via an app, which tasks best match my current brain state or give me recommendations on how to achieve a desired brain state. This would allow me to optimally prepare for analytical or creative tasks, among other things.

Whether it’s a travel destination, an activity or something else – what’s at the top of your bucket list?

At the top of my bucket list is a visit to the Masters in Augusta, one of the most historic golf tournaments in the world. Even as a little boy, I would sit in front of the TV for hours watching the tournament. It would be an absolute childhood dream to see the world's best golfers up close and experience the unique atmosphere of the tournament live. So, if anyone happens to have spare tickets, please send them along! 😉

Welcome to KI.M, Marvin!
